West Cork Artist and Musician
The Blue Balloon
Oil on canvas 16" x 12"
Patrick is now concentrating almost full time
on his creative skills in art and music following
early retirement in Spring 2012. His artwork
continues to evolve towards an expressive and imaginative use of colour. His recent paintings
represent varying styles (landscape, still life
and portraiture) and include paintings he did of perspectives and scenery in Schull (particularly
from the Coosheen side).
Patrick is a self taught artist and works mainly
in oils and acrylic. He has benefitted from
tutoring given by Cora Murphy, the contemporary
artist based in Cork city as well as being tutored
in art classes and workshops given by others
such as David Kavanagh, Mary O'Brien
and Dominic Daly in the past two years.
There was a recent exhibition of his work at
Ballincollig Community College.
‘An image reflected in a mirror, a rainbow in the sky,
and a painted scene
Make their impressions on the mind, but in essence
are other than what they seem
Look deeply at the world, and see an illusion,
a magician’s dream’
- The Seventh Dalai Lama: "Song of the Immaculate Path"
